Kids and Jobs

Recently I was asked what I think about kids having jobs. Well, I’m all for it! Jobs around the house and even a job outside of the house. Jobs teach kids responsibility, work ethics, honesty, honour and pride.

Of course, if the job is done by the parent or a parent is overly involved in pushing the kid to get things done, the opposite may happen… the kid might not learn how to be a good worker, they may learn to be a great slacker. (more…)

Do what you love

What do a bank teller, a gardener, a bartender and a packer all have in common?

Today I’d like to share with you the experiences of four people that I have recently met who have something wonderful in common. They all what they do. And I mean LOVE it!

Sure, I know what you’re thinking – how can a bank teller love her job? And, what specifically is a packer? Well that one is easy – this person works in a factory and packs things into boxes that come off a conveyor belt. What isn’t to love about that job? (more…)

Welcome to the final article of this four part series of Is there an app for that? We are discussing the components to an application for change. Today we are looking at the component of congruency.

Congruency – the crucial moment where our beliefs, thoughts and attitudes align with our actions.

I meet a lot of people from training and coaching. Many people tell me that they are not good at manifesting change into their lives. My main question for them is this “are you not getting any manifesting or just not the things you want?” Most likely it is the latter. (more…)

Welcome to the third article of this four part series of Is there an app for that? We are discussing the components to an application for change. The second component necessary for change is commitment.

If we want change, if we are ready to step up and step into a change which will set our life on a new or better course, if we are ready to take hold of that which is rightfully ours, then commitment is necessary. Unless there is commitment we only have hopes, dreams and ideas. No plans, no certainty no goals. (more…)

Is There an App For That? Part II: Compassion

Welcome to the second article of this four part series of Is there an app for that? We are discussing the components to an application for change. And the first component that comes to mind is Compassion.

The measure of compassion is love. The measure of love is kindness.

When we are on the road to change, one of the first steps is to acknowledge and embrace where we are and who we are. Life is like a road, and travelling on that road we sometimes hit a few potholes. Those potholes can throw us out of alignment – not just our cars, but our beings – ourselves. When we are out of alignment, we can realign with self-compassion.

It’s easy to have compassion for others, its time you do more of it for yourself. (more…)
