In my last post I looked at The Second of A’s to Self-Coaching – Acceptance.

Once you have become aware of what is happening in your world of emotions, behaviours and thoughts and you have accepted what is happening; from this place, you can then notice alternatives and choices that may not have been in your awareness a few seconds before. Now, you can take action the third A. This might be moving in a different direction, changing your self talk or simply making a choice from Cause about the next move to make.

Being at Cause takes constant effort. Not hard effort, but continual maneuvering. It is kind of like when an airplane is on automatic pilot mode and the pilot needs to correct the course. In this analogy – YOU are the pilot and the unconscious mind is the automatic pilot.  Airplanes are off course approximately 99 percent of the time.  The purpose and role of the pilot and the avionics is to continually bring the plane back on course so that it arrives on schedule at its destination.

You are the pilot of your life – and when you notice that you are off course, stuck in a loop or in effect – that is simply a warning signal from the cockpit that is your turn to step-up and take back the controls. Your happiness and your success is up to you.

And just like the airplane which is off course 99 percent of the time – you are not supposed to be on course 100% of the time. You are supposed to be off course! This off course is where you learn and grow from. The aim isn’t to stay on course – the aim is to get back on course as soon as you notice you have gotten off track!

As long as you are prepared to make continual corrections and you are willing to get out of your comfort zone and your are prepared to take responsibility back – happiness and success are yours for the taking!
